Walked in right at noon with a coworker and should have known right away because there was no one else eating. Mentioned to the employee that it was our first time to Fuzzys expecting some input about the menu or maybe popular items… not a word. Ordered 2 tacos with beans and rice and a drink and it was $20. Thought maybe the tacos were huge or something for that price. Food was ready pretty quick. Tacos were covered in so much lettuce you couldn’t see the minimal amount of meat in the taco. Rice was undercooked and over seasoned and the beans were microwaved because they had one hot spot in the middle and the outside was still cold. Will mot be back again.
Huge, two-meal portions, friendly staff, and inviting atmosphere. It was a snowy holiday weekend, and judging by the license plates we saw in the parking lot, the place was busy with families traveling on I-70. I would come again next time I was in Hays!
This place should be my favorite? Fuzzys offers reward points, a variety of tacos and Mexican dishes I can't find just anywhere (like juevos rancheros). The dining atmosphere includes all the TV's you could ask for. The portion sizes are good.
I think it's lacking consistency. The service changes over time. This last visit, you ordered and no one checks on you and you clean up your own table. No big deal but it was different last time we were there. Looked like they may be short on help.
As for the food, it should be incredible. They offer many different types of proteins and it looked fantastic. My son said he had the best quesadilla he's ever tasted. However, the black beans were salted so much that they were unbearable. And I like salt. Just a few beans mixed into the fajita was too much. The fried potatoes looked awesome. However, they were too salty too. It's really a bummer because the shrimp and beef fajitas tasted amazing.
They offer alcoholic drinks and breakfast options all day. The prices can get up there but aren't too bad. For that price though, the consistency should be better. I'll be sad if this restaurant doesn't survive because of their many options and atmosphere. However, there are more consistent, quality options for Mexican food in town.
So good! Shrimp tacos and fried avocado tacos were amazing! Shredded chicken nachos were huge! My son had the shredded brisket burrito and loved it, but had to bring half with us... It's really big! I loved the original Butt Burnin' sauce... bought a bottle to take home. 🙂
Fun atmosphere, good music! Wish we had a Fuzzy's in Ohio!
Diverse menu with California style Mexican food. Fresh ingredients and ready in a timely manner. Full bar with four different frozen margaritas. Numerous TV's with sports or they'll accommodate your selection.
Fuzzy's was just ok for me. It was our first time at a Fuzzy's and I will never go back. We stopped by as we were traveling through Hays on our summer vacation. The hostess/cashier at the front of the store knew very little about their menu items and was very irritated at any questions we asked with regards to the menu and especially with regards to ingredients in the food items that two of our children cannot eat. We have a couple people in our family with a food allergy and eating any dairy products will make them very sick so we were asking about ingredients in specific food items. She said she didn't know, and that there was no one there that would know what was in their food. She said the only people who would know was their food prep guys and that they work mornings so no one could help us. She was also very short with us as we ordered. I felt like she thought we were taking too much time and asking too many questions even though no one was behind us. We ordered the items we wanted and requested two without cheese. When we went to sit down all the tables in the restaurant were dirty. I couldn't find anyone to ask about getting them cleaned off so I spotted some glass cleaner sitting out on the bar and decided to wash them myself. I have to say, it was pretty handy that they had big rolls of paper towels sitting out. if you need to clean your own table you have the supplies you need, so I guess that was a plus. Finally, when our meals came out and we picked them up, they all came out with with cheese. Normally that's not a big deal. Most items can be remade and we weren't angry, I just explained to another employee about the dairy allergy and asked if we could get a replacement. Mistakes happen, but what happened next was ridiculous. I overheard the kitchen staff arguing about remaking the plate that was made incorrectly. They seemed incredibly upset about having to remake the tacos and didn't leave a very good impression about Fuzzy's and the staff and management of this restaurant. Overall, the food was just middle of the line tacos. Nothing too amazing. Nothing too horrible. It was just there. Tacos for Life is a similar type of taco shop and 1000 times better.
This was my first time at any Fuzzy's location, so my experience may not be typical. The ordering process was a bit confusing because the order counter isn't visible from the door I entered, and neither are the fountain drinks visible from the order counter. (Maybe there was a main door that I didn't notice, though?). The tables and chairs are mostly high, which I don't find very comfortable, but the dining room is otherwise pleasant with lots of natural light. I had two tacos--ground beef and chicken fajita-- but without the feta (which seems weird on tacos). The flavor was good, but you have to get through mountains of lettuce to get to that. I don't mind some lettuce, but there is a ton of it. Then there are two hot sauces--original and hot. This is fine, except that the original is not mild, which means there is no mild sauce for those who need it. Also, the bottles are squrt bottles that don't close, which means that a crusty, dried plug of sauce forms in the tip between uses--kind of gross, really. Overall, I might eat here again but won't seek it out.
Somebody gifted me coupons so of course I HAD to try it and I am so glad I did! Hands down the best Mexican "fast" food I've ever had! I got the shrimp fajita plate and an order of shredded chicken nachos and everything had such an amazing amount of flavor; nothing was over seasoned, nothing under seasoned, it was all perfect! I'll definitely be going back
